Partner Spotlight: The Death Deck
We’re proud to highlight our partnership with The Death Deck, a company redefining how we talk about death, dying, and end-of-life care through interactive, human-centered tools.
Founded by Lori LoCicero and Lisa Pahl, a grieving wife and the hospice social worker who supported her, The Death Deck was born from a powerful shared truth: most people are unprepared for end-of-life decisions, and silence often leaves loved ones in the dark. Together, they created card-based conversation tools that make these hard conversations a little easier.
From game nights with friends to hospice care planning, The Death Deck, E•O•L Deck, and Dementia Deck are used by families, professionals, and caregivers to spark dialogue, share preferences, and reduce the uncertainty that so often accompanies serious illness and aging.
Why this partnership matters
At Eleplan, we believe that good caregiving is rooted in clarity, and that clarity often begins with conversation. The Death Deck helps families speak openly about what matters most. We’re honored to work alongside a team creating tools that empower caregivers to have those conversations before a crisis hits.
Where The Death Deck helps surface values and wishes, Eleplan provides a way to organize and act on them. By working together, we’re closing the loop between understanding what a loved one wants and putting systems in place to honor those decisions.
How The Death Deck supports caregivers
Whether it’s a caregiver seeking guidance, a dementia diagnosis shifting family dynamics, or an adult child wondering when and how to ask tough questions, The Death Deck’s tools offer a gentle but powerful way in. Each deck uses multiple-choice prompts, open-ended reflections, and community-tested language to spark meaningful, nonjudgmental conversations about care.
As a partner, The Death Deck also provides training resources and collaborates with hospice teams, social workers, palliative care experts, and end-of-life doulas, making their tools accessible across both personal and professional settings.
Shared goals, stronger outcomes
Together, Eleplan and The Death Deck are helping caregivers:
• Talk openly about values, fears, and hopes
• Reduce the burden of “guesswork” during times of crisis
• Transform conversations into concrete, shareable care plans
• Build confidence and trust among care teams and families
This partnership underscores our shared belief: it’s not just about how we care, but how we communicate. Because behind every thoughtful plan is a conversation that made it possible.
